Shri Kewal Chand Ji Modi
President Awardee Shri Kewal Chand Ji Modi, a legendary figure in the history of freedom struggle, was a humble businessman by birth. He pioneered Quit India Movement in Jodhpur under the leading freedom movement organization-Marwar Lok Parishad which started agitation against the British rule and autocracy. He was also debarred from the city after his participation in matriculation from Lahore. He also acquired the degree of B.A. as well as the title ‘Prabhakar’. He established Hindustan Radiators to manufacture radiators in the year 1958. It was the first ever radiator manufacturing unit of India. He was associated with various organizations in various capacities. Being fond of education, he took keen interest in developing educational institutes as resident. He served the prestigious “Baal Niketan” for twenty years. For more than forty years, he served Shree Mahesh Shikshan Sansthan as the Vice President. He had also been the President of Rajasthan Pradeshik Maheshwari Sabha and Vice President of Jodhpur Industries Association, Marwar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rotary Club and Marwar Akal Sahayta Samiti as well, wherein he was conferred with the ‘Samaj Seva Ratna’ by Shah Goverdhanlal Kabra Gyanpeeth for outstanding contribution to save cows during drought. Apart from being amongst the patrons of leading cultural organization of Suncity “Swar Sudha”, he was also the President of "Gita Prachar Mandal" and "Jodhpur Zila Swatantrata Sangram Samiti". He was also a member of Export Promotion Council and had travelled various countries extensively for his outstanding contribution during the freedom struggle, he was conferred with ‘Tamrapatra’ on the eve of Golden Jubilee celebration of the Quit India Movement in 1988. For his contribution in the industrial development, he achieved ‘President’s Award’ in 1977 followed by “Bhatt Puraskar” in 1983.
